George Walton Academy seeks an engaging, energetic Spanish teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. Reporting to the Associate Head of School for Academics, the teacher will work closely with the World Languages department and middle/upper school faculty, with an emphasis on collaborating with colleagues to create interdisciplinary and engaging experiences for students.
Responsibilities

Teach six classes and possess the ability and skills to successfully teach Spanish to middle and high school students

Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences

Create and sustain a positive classroom culture, based on the mission and values of the school

Observe/evaluate/assess students’ development and maintain accurate records regarding student progress and areas of growth

Contribute to the cohesion, continuity and rigor of the World Languages department
-
Work comfortably with students as an academic advisor

Enrich or modify lessons, curriculum, materials and resources as needed to meet differentiated student needs and varying levels of progress inside and outside the classroom

Communicate in an open, timely, and supportive manner with students, staff, parents, and other stakeholders regarding student achievement and progress
Exceptional Candidates Will

Possess a strong background in Spanish-language education and an enthusiasm for working with middle and high school students

Demonstrate an approachable, consistent, transparent, supportive and good-humored posture

Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues and individuals inside and outside the school

Demonstrate a passion for sharing best practice pedagogy in the field

Possess international experience, either through teaching, working, and/or studying
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Spanish (or related field) required; Master’s Degree preferred

Experience with a broad range of instructional practices
