The aim of Lower School Music is to encourage a lifelong love of musical activities. We teach children to be tuneful (match pitch), beautiful (keep a beat), and artful (Be able to feel and appreciate the beauty of music itself). Students participate in activities that encourage them to be able to participate in musical activities throughout their lives, like singing “Happy Birthday”, dancing at weddings, and enjoying concerts and musical programs, and for all students to teach their progeny to engage in and enjoy music.

Lessons include singing, listening, dancing and movement, playing pitched and unpitched instruments, and rhythm activities.  Students learn the historical context of and explore folk/traditional children’s songs, classical music (Composer of the Month), contemporary songs, various musical genres (i.e.-jazz, opera, country, reggae) and multi-cultural music.
