"Great theatre is about challenging how we think and encouraging us to fantasize about a world we aspire to."
With the addition of Kayla Marsh to the talented arts faculty, GWA’s drama program is growing and evolving into a more comprehensive theater arts department which will encompass acting, makeup and costume design, stagecraft and set design. “I’m be teaming up with our chorus and dance teachers to produce a 5th – 12th grade musical in the spring that will include theater arts, dance and chorus,” explains Ms. Marsh. “We hope the older students will enjoy mentoring the younger students and that the project will spark interest for other students to try out performing arts disciplines.”
Marsh goes on to explain that drama benefits students by teaching confidence, presentation skills, teamwork, empathy and understanding, adding that “being able to walk in someone else’s shoes is an essential tool that helps people become better at relationships in general.”
George Walton Academy's thriving theater arts program presents several full-scale productions each year.
