Nowhere is the development of the whole student more important than in the Lower School. As an independent school, GWA has designed every aspect of the school day with a focus on encouraging a young person's mental, physical, emotional, social and ethical growth. Although we rely on classroom experiences as the primary method of instruction, GWA’s lower school academic program is enhanced through field trips in and beyond the Monroe area, guest speakers, games and as much hands-on experience as possible.
George Walton Academy's Middle School incorporates sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Our independent school program provides a smooth transition for students from lower to high school as well as from childhood to adolescence. Middle school students develop into thoughtful, responsible and self-aware students as they prepare to meet the academic expectations of a college preparatory curriculum at the high school level. They also begin to discover and pursue their own interests.
George Walton Academy’s Upper School, which includes ninth through 12th grade, takes pride in balancing a challenging, college preparatory approach to academics with a wide array of elective offerings, co-curricular activities and other enrichment opportunities. Students, with an understanding of themselves as learners, may choose from several academic tracks or pursue intensive study in a specialized area of interest.
