Tennis

“As the head tennis coach at GWA and as a college and lifelong player myself, I can say that tennis is a lifetime sport. Whether you are 15 years old and competing for your school or 70 years old and part of ALTA or another recreational league, tennis is meant to be played at all ages.” — Chiara Di Salvo, Head Tennis Coach

Varsity practices typically last 1½–2 hours, four days per week outside of matches, with a focus on improving skills and strategies. The program strives to play a competitive schedule each year against schools across the area, both region and non-region.

In recent years, the team has celebrated significant wins and strengthened the program, with several players signing to compete at the collegiate level.

The varsity boys were Region runners-up in 2021 and 2022 and advanced to the second round of the State tournament in both seasons. In 2023, they won the Region Championship and advanced to the State quarterfinals.

The varsity girls had their best season in 2022, finishing the regular season undefeated with a 15–0 record and winning the Region Tournament once again. That year, they advanced to the State finals, where they lost to Wesleyan in the championship game.

In 2023 and 2024, the varsity girls won two more Region Championships and reached the State quarterfinals in both seasons.
