Lower School (K5-5th)

A Strong Foundation for a Lifetime of Learning

At George Walton Academy, we believe the Lower School years are the most important time to nurture a child’s curiosity, confidence, and character. Every part of the school day is designed to support the growth of the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and ethically.

Our classrooms provide rich, engaging instruction in phonics, reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Beyond the core subjects, students expand their horizons through Spanish, art, music, dance, physical education, Bible, library, and STEM. These special area classes introduce children to a variety of disciplines and teaching styles, helping them adapt, connect, and thrive in different learning environments.

Hands-on learning is at the heart of our program. Field trips, guest speakers, collaborative projects, and interactive lessons bring learning to life, sparking excitement and deepening understanding. Just as importantly, we value the role of play—students enjoy recess every day, building friendships, practicing teamwork, and developing healthy habits.

Our goal is simple yet profound: to inspire a lifelong love of learning while helping children grow into capable, confident, and compassionate individuals.
