George Walton Academy (GWA) seeks a creative and engaging Middle School Mathematics teacher who demonstrates a love of middle school students, a passion for teaching and learning, a growth mindset, and a commitment to excellence in line with the mission and vision of the school. GWA is an independent, Pre-K-12, independent, college-preparatory school located on 61 beautiful acres in Monroe, Georgia, less than one hour from the state capitol of Atlanta.

Responsibilities

Teach a full load of courses at the middle school level

Design and implement engaging, student-centered, and age-appropriate learning experiences with attention to individual student needs and differentiation

Collaborate with colleagues within and across disciplines and grade levels to promote interdisciplinary and cross-curricular teaching and learning
-
Use varied instructional strategies based on the needs and interests of the students
-
Establish and maintain open and effective lines of communication with all students, parents, faculty, and staff
-
Create and sustain a positive classroom culture based on the mission and values of the school

Monitor student growth and progress and maintain accurate and timely records

Participate in professional learning opportunities within and beyond GWA
-
Serve as an advisor to a small cohort of middle school students

Actively and enthusiastically support the life of the school outside of the classroom
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
-
Experience working with middle school students
-
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
