About GWA

George Walton Academy is a coeducational, independent, non-profit, college-preparatory day school founded in 1969 by parents and community leaders looking for rigorous academics and strong Judeo-Christian values. The school has over 800 students in K4-12th grades from Walton, Newton, Rockdale, Oconee, Morgan, Gwinnett, Clarke, DeKalb and Barrow counties.

George Walton is governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Trustees and is a member of the Southern Association of Independent Schools, Georgia Independent School Association and Georgia High School Association (Region 8A).

Accreditation
George Walton Academy is accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission, Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Academics

For high school students, college preparatory, honors and a broad range of advanced placement (AP) classes are offered.  The maximum target class size is 20 students, with AP courses averaging 10 students. All students are required to take the SAT as a part of GWA graduation requirements.
